Don't listen others, do whatever you want. There's nothing impossible.

Try to collect all information and do it. At least you have nothing to lost. And, Toronto is mulit-culture society. I do believe that it's possilbe to hire teacher who has chinese background. Chinese immigrants's kid need teacher who can understand their orignial culture. Society is changing, edcuation system must change.

Btw, I am chinese , but I am doing sales job in here. I am dealing with many local canadians every day. I have co-woker, chinese as well. He has been in this company over 1 year already. His performance is very well.
My ex landlord who is sales director of big software company in Hongkong , he question me when he knows I am going to be sales in Canada. However, I am starting now . Although it's long way to go , it's tough. I am trying and doing my own way.
