【讨论】为什么有人那么热心推销RESP

银行不收费,买MUTUAL FUND的话,MUTUAL有一定的费用,但没有多少.
我一直就这么认为,银行不卖RESP一样挣钱,卖RESP的人不卖可能就不挣钱,当然他们热心推销.

其实本来也没什么,不喜欢的是有些卖RESP的人只讲好处,不讲其他可能发生的额外费用或风险.我遇到的卖RESP的经常讲ENROLL费会退给你,但你根本不知道退你多少,都是混在一起的,他们说的赢利也是你最后能支取多少钱算的.多数GROUP的不能中途停止,退出,否则都有损失.我朋友两个孩子, 一来就被一认识人劝说下买了,前一段时间家里出了变故,她觉得负担有点重,想暂时不供RESP了,这才知道不供就损失.

而且有些人太自作聪明了,以为别人什么都不知道.我们刚来时在MALL里碰见过一个香港人推销RESP,问我们来多久了,孩子多大,装模作样地说给我查查,然后告诉我说我可以帮你们追回一年孩子的RESP.我用她追?直接去银行办个户头,什么额外的手续都不要,照样是把前一年的买了.还碰到一个上来打听买了没,一听没买,马上说怎么能不买,孩子的牛奶金你怎么都花了?管得也太宽了吧.

也许我运气不好,真的是碰到的都不咋样,还是觉得放银行放心.

在银行买除了投资在GIC外，如果有其他投资也要收管理费的，建议你问清楚，免得误导别人阿

没有误导.我家就是在CIBC开的RESP基金帐户,不是GIC.买卖基金,基金本身会收一点手续费,很少.

there is a kind of fee named MER, please ask the bank, if they say no. I will trans fer my RESP to the bank.

MER = management expense ratio
Every mutual fund charge this fee. This is what I talked about in my last post. About 2%, depends on what kind of mutural fund you invested. The reported price is after deduction of MER. So my report tells me the real value.

Similar to an MER, those companies that sell RESP GROUP PLAN charge an Administration and Portfolio Management Fee annually. THey may charge a depository fee too. A Membership/Registeration fee of certain amount (maybe $100 or more), usually per unit, will be charged too. They say they will refund you when your child start to use the money, but you may never know how much you get refunded because everything including your earning, is in there.
